ETN CONFERENCE 2026 IN ATHENS

VISIONS & TRADITIONS

Registration is open!

While a few final details are still being ironed out and not all information is online yet—we are updating the site continuously—we can confidently say that incredibly informative, exciting, and delightful days await us in Athens and Nafplio.

High-level presentations at our conference—themed "Visions & Traditions"—will shed light on Greece’s rich textile history (a truly magnificent tradition), while selected pieces will be showcased during our excursions.

Building on this foundation, we will bridge the gap to contemporary textile art, design, and craftsmanship. A new generation of Greek textile artists and makers is eager to make its voice heard—and rightly so! Their calls are supported by representatives from European educational institutions and craft guilds, whose presentations will highlight the need for textile education within modern art academia. Young people again want to understand and shape the world through hands-on experience.

We are deeply honored to host our presentation sessions—on Wednesday, October 21, and Friday, October 23—at the Stelios Foundation Conference Hall in Plaka, Athens. Located in the heart of the city, the venue is surrounded by other textile-related institutions, major sights, and countless restaurants.

Our group excursion on Thursday, October 22, will take us to the picturesque port city of Nafplio. There, we will be welcomed by the staff of the Basil Papantoniou Foundation. We will enjoy a guided tour of the exquisite ethnological collection housed in the foundation’s charming museum in the Old Town. There will be plenty of time to explore Nafplio on your own, chat with local weavers in their shops, or simply unwind and enjoy a delicious meal. On the way to or from Nafplio, we will of course visit the archaeological site of Mycenae. It’s a must-see!

Finally, we would like to point out the potentially tight hotel booking situation in Athens. Our advice: book your rooms as soon as possible! An ETN conference map is embedded on our website; it shows the coordinates of all conference-related locations, helping you get your bearings when choosing a hotel.
