Mosaic as Artistic Expression – Summer Exhibition at Galerie Handwerk
From August 16 to September 20, 2025, Galerie Handwerk presents a captivating summer exhibition exploring the mosaic as a versatile artistic principle. Featuring works by over 50 international artists, the show spans wood, glass, ceramics, stone, textiles, jewelry, and contemporary materials, revealing the mosaic’s power to unite countless fragments into striking compositions.
Visitors will encounter traditional techniques such as marquetry, intarsia, glass mosaic, and micromosaic alongside bold innovations—flexible jewelry from colored pencils, sculptural elder-branch wall pieces, terrazzo with Murano glass, and porcelain Nerikomi vessels. Each piece celebrates the creative potential of combining individual elements into a greater whole.
The exhibition opens on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at 6:30 PM, with a welcome address by curator Elke-Helene Hügel. We invite guests to enjoy the cool gallery spaces, immerse themselves in the rich variety of works, and perhaps spot a penguin or two quietly admiring the craftsmanship.
