The Textile Society of the UK invites you to join the conversation with textile artist, Kirstie Macleod, for a fascinating insight into The Red Dress Embroidery, her award winning project that took 11-years from inception through to completion and travelled the globe in the process.
The collaborative art work is covered in millions of stitches, and at 6.2 kg, is weighted as much by the individual stories and collective voices of the embroiderers waiting to be heard, as by the threads and beads that adorn it.
Students from the Royal School of Needlework in London, survivors of civil war in Kosovo, a classical violinist in Sweden, and individuals from Japan, Australia, Paris and Peru are among the diversity of contributors to the Red Dress Embroidery.
