Tejiendo la calle (Knitting the Street) comes back one more year and this is the ninth. Initiated by architect and Valverde-born Marina Fernández Ramos, Tejiendo la calle is a social and collaborative project where women at first and later also men, schoolchildren, inmigrants and all the citizenship of the village of Valverde de la Vera crochet colourful sunshades to cover the narrow streets of the village old quarter which is famous for its well preserved vernacular architecture during the very hot Extremadura summer. The material is yarn made of recycled plastic bags adding sustainibility to the project assets which have already won it several awards. Even more, this year they have published a precious book, as precious as the project itself.

Venue: Valverde de la Vera, Cáceres, ES
