Summer Symposium 2026: Rethinking Textile Waste
Workshops, Exhibitions & other Events
at

The TEXTILE KULTUR HASLACH Summer Symposium will take place this year from 20 to 31 July 2026. Between the two course weeks, the international WEAVERS’ MARKET with Faserzone will be held on the weekend of 25–26 July.

The theme of this year’s symposium is RETHINKING TEXTILE WASTE. It addresses current questions surrounding overproduction and recycling, critically reflects on fast fashion and production waste, and explores new perspectives that view waste as a valuable resource. A series of exhibitions and evening events will explore different facets of this wide-ranging topic.

The theme is also reflected in the course programme: our instructors will inspire participants to work creatively with textile waste materials through weaving, braiding, knitting, or sewing. With fresh ideas and experimental approaches, many seemingly useless materials will be transformed and given a new life.

During the first course week, we will offer a full-day excursion on Monday to several textile companies in the Mühlviertel region, which provide production waste for the workshops. For this reason, some courses that use these materials will begin on Tuesday this year. Further information about the accompanying programme and exhibitions can be found here.

We look forward to welcoming you as part of our textile summer and warmly invite you to the Mühlviertel.
