Sofia Hagström Møller is a Swedish textile artist and designer who develops textiles using both analog and computer-controlled looms. Sofia’s course "Threads of Imagination: Weaving Colour, Structure and Process" at Glimåkra Vävstols Museum in Sweden will focus on colour, process, experimentation and the creation of textile art.

5 day hands-on textile weaving workshop including an excursion to Wanås sculpture park in Knislinge. Suitable for all levels, including beginners with some weaving experience.

Using traditional Scandinavian weaving pattern Monk's Belt as the foundation, participants will express their unique artistic visions while working with traditional and nontraditional materials. The looms will be dressed and setup with cotton-linen warps. We will look for inspiration from the local environment to create colour gradations and colour blending directly on the loom with different shades of coloured yarns.

We will seek out unconventional materials to incorporate into our woven pieces, pushing the boundaries of traditional weaving. You will experiment with adding and pulling off threads to create varied textures, including thicker or more open wefts.

By the end of the week, you will have a rich collection of samples showcasing different structures, colour combinations, and experimental materials. These samples can serve as sketches or standalone artworks, or be the basis for future projects on your own loom.
