Layers & Narratives consists of new textile artwork made especially to celebrate QuiltArt's fortieth anniversary.

The first group of its kind in Europe, QuiltArt was founded in 1985 to promote the quilt as an art form. Today the artists are extremly diverse in their interpretation, finding exciting and inexhaustible creative possibilities in fabric, thread and the textile surface. Every quilt tells a story. The sixteen members come from the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Denmark, Hungary and the UK. All are leading practitioners who exhibit internationally and many are also teachers, authors and curators. High standards are maintained by a rigerous selection process.

QuiltArt exhibits throughout Europe and also have travelled to galleries in the United States, Canada, Japan and Russia. This is the first venue for Lauyers & Narratives, which will then tour Europe und the UK. The exhibition will be accompanied by a book showing all the artworks and describing the working processes of the artists.
