International Call “Work in Process”

The PRE-WTA BIENNIAL ONLINE is a virtual mode event, never held before in the history of the WTA Biennial and which we present as a prelude to the INTERNATIONAL WTA BIENNIAL OF CONTEMPORARY TEXTILE ART - CHILE 2021, which will be held in-person mode, like its previous versions. The "Work in Process" PRE-WTA BIENNIAL ONLINE will be held from September 8^th to 13^th, 2020 and will present the exhibition of the works participating in the International Call, as well as the traditional Cycle of conferences and talks. This International Call is an invitation for artists and people related to the world of textile art to share their creative process from the intimate, the private itself. It is a call to reflection, to that which has led us to transit through silences and other times, in terms of what we have lived during the experience of forced both physical and social isolation originated by COVID-19 pandemic. We perceive the current situation that Humanity is facing as an opportunity to show and share the creative process of the artists and to confirm ourselves as part of the world of contemporary textile art, here and now. The "Work in Process" PRE-WTA BIENNIAL ONLINE invites artists and anyone else related to the world of textile art to create a visual content (photography) or audio visual content (video), which allows the exploring and/or creative process in the current moment of confinement to be shown. For this, any means available - considering the resources that technology provides us with today - can be freely used in favour of the work, in terms of sharing its creative process (only works not previously exhibited or shared). We will have tutorials that will provide technical tools to create the content in the chosen format and thus be able to send it as indicated. In order to simplify the creation of content (photography or video) a reflection or Guided Conceptualization is presented, which will favour the development of your work proposal and constitutes a requirement to apply.
