INTRODUCTION

Founded in Rome in 2023 by RAABE APS, BLU Spazio delle Arti in Rome is an independent cultural center dedicated to the production, sharing, and experimentation of contemporary art.

A dynamic and inclusive hub, BLU hosts exhibitions, events, workshops, and lifelong learning programs in an open and participatory environment designed to foster dialogue between artistic languages, people, and communities.

BLU’s vision conceives art as a tool of awareness, regeneration, and social transformation, capable of influencing cultural processes and contributing to both individual and collective well-being.

In this context, art is not a territory separate from life, but rather an active and vital form of it — intertwined with the places, gestures, materials, and stories that we inhabit.

A distinctive feature of the project is upcycling, understood not only as an artistic practice but also as an ecological and political stance.

Transforming what is considered waste or discard into material endowed with new symbolic and aesthetic value means recognizing creativity as an act of resistance against planned obsolescence and the paradigms of consumerism.

Through imagination and care, the artist becomes an agent of regeneration, restoring matter to a second life and a renewed sense of belonging to the world.

GREEN: THE CORE THEME OF THE II EDITION

Following the success of IBLUE (2024) — the first edition dedicated to the chromatic dimensions of our planet — the second edition of the project turns its focus to GREEN: the color of nature, vitality, growth, and hope.

But what does GREEN truly mean today?

An omnipresent term in public, political, and commercial discourse, green has become a symbol of sustainability — yet it is also an ambiguous word, often overused, emptied of meaning, or manipulated.

In this light, IGREEN 2025 invites artists to question the deep and personal meaning of “green”: What images, emotions, or memories does it evoke?

What inner chords does it strike? What kind of relationship between human beings and nature does it reveal — or conceal, or long for?

What shadows and contradictions lie beneath the rhetoric of “green”?

Green, therefore, is not only a color or a symbol but a field of poetic and critical tension, where ecology and artifice, hope and illusion, nature and culture meet and collide.

IGREEN is an invitation to reflect on our time, on the forms of balance and imbalance that define the relationship between humanity and the planet, between matter and its

regeneration.

IGREEN aims to foster an aesthetic, ethical, and political reflection on the concept of

sustainability through contemporary visual arts, encouraging research practices that integrate a conscious use of materials and resources, processes of upcycling and reuse,

experimentation with hybrid and interdisciplinary languages, participatory and site-specific approaches capable of engaging with local contexts and communities.

ELIGIBILITY

The call is open to artists, of legal age, residing or active in the countries of the European Union.

Works in all expressive languages are eligible — painting, sculpture, installation, photography, video, performance, textile art, sound art, digital and multimedia practices — provided they are consistent with the theme of IGREEN and created according to criteria of environmental sustainability, such as the use of recycled or reclaimed materials, natural or organic substances, objets trouvés, low-impact or self-sufficient techniques, processes of reuse and upcycling, among others.

SELECTION AND EXHIBITION

A qualified jury, appointed by BLU Spazio delle Arti, will evaluate all applications and select the finalist works to be presented in the collective exhibition IGREEN, held at the Museo del Fiume (Museum of the River), Nazzano (Rome) in March 2026.

All finalist works will be featured in a bilingual catalogue (Italian/English).

Among the selected participants, the jury will designate one winning artist, who will be invited to realize a solo project room at BLU Spazio delle Arti in autumn 2026.
