Silkeborg is located in central Jutland's Søhøjland, with the Gudenå river close to the inner city.

Nordic Textile Meeting - we call it meeting, just because we think it is important to meet. This time we will live together in a hostel. We have booked accommodation for everyone at the centrally and beautifully located Danhostel April 10 - 13, from Thursday till Sunday.

More about Silkeborg.
Presumably the only silk that can be linked to Silkeborg is the one found in the name, on the other hand, other textile fibers are very present in the city's history. Cotton fiber is what the city as an industrial city used in large quantities from 1844 – 2000 to make paper at Silkeborg Papirfabrik Trevira Neckelmann, with production from 1957-2009, was a so-called fiber texturing factory as In the 1950s marketed their yarns as "super soft spinlon", was for many years an important workplace in the city. Hair, wool yarns and leather are some of the fibers that can be found at Museum Silkeborg where the Tollundman, who is described as the world's best-preserved ancient face, is also located. The museum's collection also includes fine reconstructions of Iron Age costumes and elegantly reconstructed hairstyles.
I museets samling findes også fine rekonstruktioner af jernalderdragter og fornemt rekonstruerede frisurer. Vi vil være på museet på konferencedagen og her vil vi også afholde workshops.

More about the tour days.
On our tour days we will, among other things, visit Kjellerup weaving mill, an entrepreneurial adventure created by 2 active men who knew nothing about weaving mills before, but to that extent have got off to a good start.
We will drive north, along the Jutland ridge and the heathland to the recognized and beautiful College of Design and Handiwork, Højskolen for Design og Håndarbejde, which is very successful in developing and teaching young and old all about handiwork. On the way back to Silkeborg, we visit ceramist Helle Bovbjerg, who gets her inspiration for the ceramic works via textiles. Among many other things we will visit willow braider Eva Seidenfaden, who is also responsible for one of the workshops that will be held. We will see Arttapestry 7 at Silkeborg and we will visit Museum Jorn, where Inge Bjørn, who will soon turn 100 years old, will tell us about the creation of the large tapestry, "The Long Journey". You will also meet textile artist specializing in Sprang, Johanne Høgh, textile artist Marianne T. Pedersen who works with, among others, pleated pleats and weavers Sanne Ransby.
