The Tongue of Cloth by Yuma Taru from Textile Culture Net exhibition “Torn & Sutured”
This 5 day program is an opportunity to expand your textile practice and learn about the circular processes of Prato’s textile district through a series of hands-on workshops and industry visits led by Lottozero in Prato, Italy.
The city of Prato with its industrial, artisanal and cultural heritage is of international interest for textile design, art and production. Lottozero’s program offers a 5 day intensive immersion into the textile heritage of Prato through a combination of guided visits in the textile district and workshops at the Lottozero textile lab. The program showcases the circular processes in the industrial production line, an intrinsic part of Prato’s culture. Participants will gain an insight into Prato’s wool recycling and sustainable production processes, visiting four locations deeply rooted in the local tradition of industrial textile manufacturing.
A series of short hands-on workshops at the Lottozero lab will supplement the industry visits, allowing participants to explore creative and innovative ideas informed by the different recycling steps. The workshops are an opportunity for participants to utilise Lottozero’s wide range of tools and equipment for experimentation and research on textile materials. The Lottozero work space includes equipment covering manual and industrial techniques for spinning, carding, weaving, knitting, dyeing, silkscreen and sublimation printing, embroidery, felting, tufting and sewing.
