Celebrating 2021 as the Dante year, the German-Italian Society of Venice is exhibiting a batik interpretation of the Divine Comedy by Ukrainian artist Lidia Epshtein. The exhibited batik works reflect in transformation of their style and motifs Dante's own journey from the darkness of the forest and the gloom of hell´s levels to the splendour of the final vision.
The exhibition lasts from November 20th to December 30th. At the vernissage, the Trio Vivaldi played the pieces by A. Vivaldi and F.J. Haydn.
The exhibition is part of an art-literature-music project dedicated to the stay of the great poet in Venice, and also to the translations of the Divine Comedy into German. The project takes place in Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello, the seat of ACIT (German-Italian Society of Venice and Examination center of the Goethe Institute), and is organized by Ms. Nevia Pizzul-Capello, the long-time president of the German-Italian Society of Venice and a bearer of the Federal 1st Class Cross of Merit.
Lidia Epshtein lives and works in Wuppertal.
