From May 13 to June 21, 2023, works by Claudia Merx will enter into a dialogue with pieces of jewelry from our workshop.

The exhibition is also open on "hello creator SPRING WEEKEND".

JEWELRY ART exhibition with Claudia Merx:

"Hüllungen" is an exhibition about the fascination and attraction of the hidden, and - on a further level - about the possibilities of art to create new assignments of meaning, to encode the visible and show the invisible.
Claudia Merx is an artist with a special affinity for the existential importance of textiles for people. Covering and unveiling is the focus of the Aachen sanctuary journey: the textile relics of the cathedral treasury are taken out of their many wrappings and shown. Claudia Merx artfully takes up this theme in her objects and installations. The works of art do not refer to material or defined content, but to their non-visibility. The objects - empty shells - reveal questions and hints of absence.

Claudia Merx is an artist and artistic researcher. She favors the textile as a medium in her work, in which human concerns are the focus. In her projects, she explores historical backgrounds and cultural contexts and looks for their topicality. The research and research is usually at the beginning of the artistic work. Claudia Merx has shifted towards research as a work.

From the given or found and the subjective interpretation, she develops imaginative objects that often appear as fragments or scraps of thought and snapshots of matter. Making is a central element of the artistic process and can be seen as a form of thinking.
Claudia Merx places the various objects and series in unusual relationships with one another. This results in installations in space that, viewed from different, also quite subjective perspectives, awaken associations.

Benedikt Förster-Heyne and his team process these inspirations into pieces of jewelery made of precious metals, which enter into an exciting dialogue with the textile "coverings". Poor textile material meets precious metal...
