The traditional manual activities of sewing, crocheting, embroidery and knitting have long since established themselves in contemporary art and are no longer disparagingly equated with »arts and crafts«.

The Spoerri Exhibition House gives an insight into the astonishing variety of textile art: sewn plants, embroidered interiors, carpet pictures, crochet dishes, cross-stitches on a plastic bag, knitted architecture, sewn writing, yesteryear clothing, idiosyncratic figures and a variety of flags.

Textiles also stretch like the proverbial golden thread through Daniel Spoerri's work; in his pictures as well as in a collection of special fabrics, blankets and towels.
