Global Qipao Invitational Exhibition 2020: Poetry, China National Silk Museum
Qipao is one of the most representative dresses of Chinese women. Since 2017 the Hangzhou Qipao Festival is working on connecting the rich Qipao tradition with modern aspects by organizing international textile exhibitions.
Qipao Invitational International Exhibition 2020 will be opened at China National Silk Museum in Hangzhou on October 18th and will be running for the whole year. Poetry was the chosen exhibition topic for this year.
Chinese and international designers were invited to submit costumes inspired in the traditional Qipao costume that originated in 19th century Shanghai among upper class and chic women.
Lala de Dios, member of the ETN board, was invited to curate the Spanish participation. Among others, the work of the Spanish artist and designer Kima Guitart was selected - two dresses in hand painted silk.
