The exhibition DUENDE, Contemporary Lithuanian Textile Art, focuses exclusively on contemporary textile works created by internationally recognized Lithuanian artists. This interactive exhibit with spatial objects immerses the viewer in an environment where everything is conceptually related.
Art is something intangible and difficult to define in words. Duende is an expression that refers to art that is born naturally – it is the special gift that some artists have. The concept goes beyond reason, it touches directly on the emotions that provoke the viewer.
As Federico García Lorca says “the duende is a power and not an action, it is   a struggle and not thinking.”

The exhibition commemorates the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Spain and Lithuania and shows, for the first time in Madrid, contemporary textile works created by 16 internationally recognized Lithuanian artists and who will present 24 works of art and 9 NFT's, some of them the collection of the MO Museum in Vilnius, Lithuania. This interactive exhibition with spatial objects immerses the viewer in an environment where everything is conceptually related.

Its objectives are to promote and disseminate the latest contemporary artistic trends in Lithuania and to open new horizons to bring the Art of Fiber closer to the Spanish public from the perspective of Northern Europe with large-scale works and the perspectives of the NFTS as an innovative format of artistic expression, fostering future cultural exchanges between Spain and Lithuania.

Organized and curated: Vilma Mačianskaitė and María Ortega.
