Paper on Skin invites Australian and international artists to embrace the challenge of designing a wearable garment made from at least 80% paper.

In 2022, it will be ten years since the first event, held at the Burnie Regional Art Gallery. In recognition of this significant milestone, the organisers are spreading their wings, relocating to the new home of Devonport and expanding their suite of activities.

AWARDS (AUD$):

$5000 Major Award

$2000 Honourable Roger Jaensch MP Runner-Up Award

$1000 Tasmanian Hearing and Implant Centre – Dr Kellie Walker’s Encouragement Award – for recognition of talent and to encourage pursuit of the artform

Awagami Paper Award in Recognition of the use of Handmade Paper – a selection of Awagami Editioning papers to the value of over AUD$500 - to recognise the use of handmade, artisanal and/or non-commercial paper

$1000 Award in honour of Pam and Neil Thorne – a special award which reflects the core concept of Paper on Skin, an idea conceived and developed by Burnie artist Pam Thorne with support from her husband Neil. This award is sponsored by Janet De Boer OAM

$500 Cocoon Designs Public Vote Award

Prize Winners will be announced at the Gala on Friday 17 June at the paranaple convention centre, Devonport

Notification of Pre-Selection outcome: no later than 18 Feb 2022

Delivery of work: no later than 20 May 2022

In-situ judging: 2 June 2022

Filming: 3 – 14 June 2022

Dress Rehearsal: 16 June

Gala Parade and Award Evening: 17 June

Exhibition Dates Devonport Regional Gallery at the paranaple arts centre: 23 June – 30 July

Artists to organise collection of artworks from the Devonport Regional Art Gallery by 19 August 2020
