From May 19 to October 25, 2020, the State Textile and Industry Museum Augsburg (tim) shows the temporary exhibition "Amish Quilts meet Modern Art". In the temporary exhibition gallery that covers more than 1,000 square meters, visitors can explore an exciting dialogue of original Amish quilts from the period between 1890 and 1950 and high-class works of contemporary art. The exhibition deals with current issues such as order and chaos, community and individuality or peace and war. tim museum director Dr. Karl B. Murr promises surprising and insightful insights into the reasons and abysses of current life. “In an exciting interplay, the objects from different eras are looking for viable answers to fundamental questions about our human existence. Especially under the current circumstances of the Covid-19 pandemic, museums are important places of cultural meaning and serve in times of crisis more than ever as valuable sources of ideas on how we want to live together as a society in the future. ”The exhibition shows works by the following artists: Winfred Gaul, Arne Quinze, Jan Kuck, Sophia Süßmilch, Felix Weinold, Charly-Ann Cobdak, Urs Lüthi, Miro Craemer, Andrea Büttner, Dorothée Aschoff, Mike Kelley, Julius von Bismarck, Adeela Suleman, Beate Passow, Rose Stach, Ulla von Brandenburg, Hans Peter Reuter, Manfred Mayerle, Julio Rondo, Michael Hofstetter, Olaf Probst, Wade Guyton.
