At Kolding School of Design, situated right in the middle of Kolding, Denmark, www.designskolenkolding.dk there is a digital jacquard handloom (TC-1). It is connected to a computer with all the relevant programs including Photoshop.
In the months of Aug., Sept., Oct., Jan. and Feb. it is at the disposal of visiting weavers.
The loom has been constructed in such a way, that twelve warp ends per cm. give a maximum width of 100 cm, whereas 36 warp ends give a maximum of 36 cm. Everything to do with pattern, weaves and density of weft is all up to you.
You set up the loom yourself and use your own materials; however Kolding School of Design has a great many yarns in stock from which you can buy.
The school is open from 7 am. - 12 pm. seven days a week. Irrespective of the length of the weaving period you will be charged 750 Dkr. to cover electricity and heating. You will also have to find your own lodging.
The only claim on you is that you know how to operate the loom, or feel confident you will find out as you go. Against a fee you can get help from students setting up the loom.Closing dates for applications:
May 1. (Aug., Sep., Oct.) .
