Established in 2021 by the Taoyuan Museum of Fine Arts, the Taoyuan International Art Award (TIAA) stands as a biennial exhibition initiative dedicated to cultivating international art networks and expanding global perspectives. Its core mission is to promote cultural diversity in contemporary art worldwide and discover artistic propositions that embody modern viewpoints. Finalists selected for the award will receive support from the museum to realize their exhibition plans. Now entering its third edition, the award strives to widen the scope of artistic expressions and cultural horizons.

The TIAA is also notable for its distinguished international jury panel, whose past members include Christine Macel, Chief Curator of the 57th Venice Biennale; Nanjo Fumio, former Director of the Mori Art Museum; independent curator Hou Hanru; Cosmin Costinas, curator of the Sydney Biennale, as well as prominent local art critics, curators, and scholars like Kao Chien-Hui, Chia Chi Jason Wang, Takamori Nobuo, and Roan Ching-Yueh.

The TIAA aspires to transcend international borders within the realm of contemporary art. With the vision of a city art museum in the 21st Century, the Taoyuan Museum of Fine Arts aims to serve as a dynamic platform extending the natures and frontiers of art, and foster a surge of creative energy. It endeavors to become a central hub for reflections on issues of a globalized world.

The main building of Taoyuan Museum of Fine Arts in Qingpu is expected to be completed at the end of 2026. Having operated for more than five years, the museum continues to engage the public through a variety of innovative guerrilla projects of exhibitions and education throughout the city.
