The Professional Association of Artisans of Aragon APAA has invited the Association for Textile Creation ACT to exhibit Matter, Craft, Soul. Contemporary Textile Creation at Centro de Artesanía de Aragón (Aragón Crafts Center) in Zaragoza, where it can be seen from November 18th, 2023 to January 14th, 2024.

The Professional Association of Artisans of Aragon, APAA, is a non-profit entity whose scope is the Autonomous Community of Aragon, Spain. It was established as an association in 1987 with the objective of encouraging, promoting and developing crafts in society as a cultural asset. Currently, it has 120 members..

The Association for Textile Creation, ACT, is a non-profit organization founded in 1988 under the name of Association of Textile Creators of Madrid. In 2022 was refounded as a state-level organization. Its objectives are the conservation, promotion, and innovation of textile culture understood in its triple aspect of creation, training and heritage.

In show there are a total of 103 works selected through an open call for ACT members and also for textile artists from Aragon, in an effort to promote and give visibility to local talent. To add greater value to this exhibition, members of both associations have worked together to create Elements, a collaborative work composed of 50 individual pieces. The fusion of these pieces conforms a landscape symbolizing the network of exchange and collaboration between all these women whose knowledge has been transmitted from generation to generation and, hopefully, they will also teach others.

In short, the exhibition is a reflection of the passion, creativity and dedication lying at the heart of the textile community as demonstrated by the rich diversity of crafts, materials and individual approaches in this exhibition of textile arts and crafts.
