“The Colour Magpie” - how a spark bird resulted in a collection of knitted textiles

Maartje Boer took a deep dive into studying the colours of the magpie bird. She got fascinated by the blue, emerald and black sparkling feathers that inspired her to knit, to dye, to spin. This four year long exploration in knitting resulted in boxes full of textile samples that catch the colours of the magpie and the eye of the beholder. Her thorough research comprises experiments in colour, texture, shine, scale and material.
