The Alchemy of Living Pigments: Bacteria and the Future of Textile Dyeing

Between science and poetry, between control and organic growth, a new chapter in textile dyeing unfolds. In her lecture, Julia Moser opens a window into the world of living pigments – dyes that are cultivated, not merely mixed. Through her project Growing Patterns, Living Pigments, she explores bacterial dyeing as co-creation: microorganisms that collaborate, rather than being simply processed. The lecture invites a meeting with colour as a living material, design as relationship, and the interplay of creative practice, responsibility, and vitality.
