What exactly is Indigo?

A short, simple question whose concise answer I have been chasing like a cat chasing a mouse for years. One thing is certain so far, namely that the answer is not so easy to catch.
In my presentation, I would like to talk about my current field trials with Persicaria tinctoria in Vienna's Lobau region, about my approach to indigo dyeing in my artistic practice and about my educational activities, where the plant and the blue take centre stage.
