ETN General Assembly 2013 in Madrid

This year our Network is not organizing its own conference, instead it will held its General Assembly in the frame of the celebration of the 25th year of the “Asociación de Creadores Textiles de Madrid” (ACTM), the association of our President Lala de Dios in Madrid.

The ETN General Assembly will take place (in English) on May 31st, 2013 from 11.30 to 14.00 h at the Costume Museum: Museo de Traje, Avenida de Juan de Herrera 2, E-28040 Madrid

It is the 10th election meeting. ETN members are asked to define their leading body, the administrative council (AC) anew. Currently the AC is made up of Lala de Dios/E, President; Beatrijs Sterk/D, Secretary General; Vibeke Vestby/N, Treasurer and Patricia Christy, Leader of the TEXERE Working Group.
Open for election are the posts of President, Secretary General, Treasurer and further Board members (10 persons maximum). Each ETN member that has paid its annual contribution 2013 has the right to wrote and can candidate for the AC.

IN THE FRAMEWORK OF ‘CREATEXTIL 2013’:
THE SPANISH EVENT FOR THE 25th ANNIVERSARY OF THE ASOCIACIÓN DE CREADORES TEXTILES DE MADRID (Actm)

This event will be held in Spanish with selective translation into English. In the morning of 30 and 31 May there are planned guided tours to the collections of the Museo del Traje, the Museo Nacional de Artes Decorativas and the Museo/Instituto Valencia de Don Juan. On the evening of 30 May the opening of the international juried fashion accessories exhibition “Suave 5” will take place at the Museo Nacional de Artes Decorativas.
Basicly on 31 May from 18.00 h to 20.00 h foreign guests can present projects or their own work in a 10 minutes presentation, to be held in English (with Spanish translation on the spot).
On 2 May in the morning there will be an offer of open air workshops for Spanish-speaking participants. Furthermore there will be a knitting art installation organized in the garden of the Costume Museum.

Thursday, 30 May

10.00 - 12.00 h Guided visit to the Museo Nacional de Artes Decorativas. English group. 12 people maximum.
10.00 - 14.00 h Guided visits to two museums. Spanish groups. 12 people max.
12.00 - 14.00 h Guided visit to the Instituto Valencia de Don Juan. English group. 12 people maximum.
Please note that participation in the visits is free but the museum rooms space is limited. Confirmation will be sent after specific registration (indispensable).
14.00 - 19.30 h Free time for lunch, siesta, shopping, sighteeing...
19.30 h Opening of the exhibition “Suave 5”, fashion accessories international juried triennial; venue: Museo Nacional de Artes Decorativas

10.30 - 12.30 h Guided visit to the Museo del Traje. English and spanish group. 25 people maxi. each.
Please note that participation in the visits is free but the museum space is limited. Confirmation will be sent after specific registration (indispensable).
11.30 - 14.00 h General Assembly of ETN (in English); venue: Costume Museum
14.00 - 15.30 h Lunch
15.30 - 17.30 h Meeting of the TEXERE Working Group
   
  Creadores Textiles (Actm) Conference
17.00 - 17.30 h Reception of participants (reception desk placed besides auditorium door).
17.45 - 18.00 h Welcome. Explanation of the objectives of the meeting.
18.00 - 20.00 h Express Session 1: projects, experiences, textile life stories... 10 minutes / 10 slides. A list of speakers and topics will be provided later on.
(Site-specific textile installations will be in progress in the museum open air spaces during the day.)

12.00 - 13.45 h Panel discussion with textile designers, artists and craft makers (4-5 participants) Individual presentations (10-15 minutes each) and discussion, moderated by Lala de Dios
13.45 - 15.00 h Lunch
15.00 - 17.00 h Panel discussion on natural dyes: Ana Roquero on Andean and Mesoamerican dyes, Marie Noëlle Vacher on mushroom dyes and Nilia Rohner on traditional dyes from the Canary Islands, Moderator: Estela Sánchez Gudiel
17.00 - 17.30 h Coffee break
17.30 - 18.00 h “The European Textile Network, history and objectives” by Beatrijs Sterk
18.00 - 20.00 h Express Session for projects, experiences and life stories (10 minutes and max. 10 slides each)
